Thomas Jentzsch is a German entrepreneur, YouTuber, and author based in Berlin. He founded 2104 Publishing as an independent imprint dedicated to books that go beyond their genre - practical guides with genuine depth, fiction with staying power, and non-fiction that respects the intelligence of its readers.
His background is in practical preparedness education. For years he has been making the case - through books, video, and apps - that emergency preparedness is not the domain of extreme survivalists or rural homesteaders. It belongs to everyone, and especially to city dwellers, who often have the most to lose and the least preparation when disruption comes. His approach is actionable, proportionate, and designed for real life: not bunkers and bug-out bags, but the practical, incremental readiness that actually changes outcomes when something goes wrong.
Thomas runs the Survival Curriculum YouTube channel, which focuses on urban preparedness - covering topics from 72-hour kits to power outages, from water storage to financial resilience. The channel reflects his belief that the language of preparedness has too often been captured by the extreme end of the spectrum, and that most people would prepare more sensibly if the information met them where they are: in a city, with a family, on a budget.
He also runs the Tom Talks Money channel, focused on personal finance fundamentals. He treats money and preparedness as deeply connected disciplines: both are about building systems that work before you need them, and both tend to fail people not for lack of information but for lack of a starting point. His personal finance work is aimed at people who feel the system is complicated by design - and who want a clear, jargon-free map of how their money actually moves.
Thomas is the founder of Protocol Survival, an app designed to measure and improve household readiness. The app allows individuals and families to assess their preparedness across multiple categories - water, food, communication, finance, first aid - and track their progress over time. It grew from his observation that most people know they should be more prepared, but have no way to measure where they actually stand or what to prioritise next.
As a publisher, Thomas is the voice behind both the practical non-fiction list at 2104 Publishing and its literary fiction imprint. He founded the press on the conviction that independent publishing is the right home for books that don't fit a corporate commercial template - books that are specific, personal, and built to last rather than to spike. Whether the reader is preparing their household for an emergency or reading a gothic novel by firelight, Thomas believes the same thing: the best books are the ones that take their reader seriously.
He lives and works in Berlin, where he continues to write, create video content, and build tools that make practical knowledge more accessible.
